When the COVID-19 Pandemic hit the U.S., Mike’s wife was assigned as one of the nurses on their hospital’s COVID Floor. After a few weeks of being separated by social distance, masks, and hearing the nightmare conditions she faced, Mike wrote “The COVID Floor” and shared it on social media.
Later in 2020, he went to the studio and recorded it as his first studio single. Dr. Ford produced the song with Chris Condon on guitars, Caleb Mundy on bass, and Gary Carter on pedal steel guitar. Dr. Ford also provided piano, drums, and back-up vocals to Mike’s lead vocals.
