There are few things I enjoy more than playing country music in my hometown.
On Thursday, October 1st, I’ll be bringing my guitar back to Tenth Ward Distilling Company in Downtown Frederick for an evening of live country music from 7–9 p.m.
It’s going to be a simple night of music: me, my guitar, a couple hours of country songs, and hopefully a room full of familiar faces.
Country Music, Downtown Frederick Style
Frederick has been home to me for most of my life, so getting to play live music right here in town is always meaningful.
I grew up in Frederick County listening to Classic Country, with Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and other country legends providing the soundtrack. My dad’s guitar helped get me started, and those early influences eventually became the foundation for the music I write and perform today.
Now, I get to bring those influences back home and mix them with my own songs when I perform around Frederick and the surrounding area.
Tenth Ward is a great setting for that kind of show.
What Will I Be Playing?
This will be a solo acoustic show, so it’ll be just me and my guitar.
I’ll be mixing some of my original songs with traditional country favorites and songs from the artists who influenced me.
If you’ve seen me with The Catoctin Cowboys, this will be a different side of the show. Without the full band behind me, the songs have a little more room to breathe, and there’s more opportunity to talk with the audience, take requests and tell some of the stories behind the songs.
You’ll hear some songs I’ve written over the years, including songs from my Nashville-recorded albums, along with plenty of Classic Country.
And who knows what requests might make their way into the set?
That’s part of the fun of a night like this.
Make a Night of It in Downtown Frederick
If you’re looking for something to do on Thursday night, come downtown and make an evening out of it.
Grab some dinner, walk around Downtown Frederick, and then head over to Tenth Ward for some live country music and a drink.
I’ll be playing from 7–9 p.m. on Thursday, October 1st, and I’d love to see some of my Frederick friends there.
These smaller, more intimate shows are a big part of why I enjoy doing what I do. There’s no giant stage separating me from the audience. It’s just people, songs and a guitar.
And that’s a pretty good way to spend a Thursday night.
