September is shaping up to be a busy month for Mike Kuster & The Catoctin Cowboys.

We’ve got three very different nights of live country music coming up—starting with a night at one of our favorite venues in Harpers Ferry, followed by a Wild West-themed fundraiser for a great cause, and then finishing up at one of Frederick County’s biggest annual traditions.

Three nights. Three great venues. Plenty of country music.

If you’re looking for live music in Frederick, Maryland, Harpers Ferry, or the surrounding area this September, here are three dates you’ll want to put on your calendar.

🎸 September 11: The Barn of Harpers Ferry

We’re kicking off our September run on Friday, September 11, at The Barn of Harpers Ferry in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.

We’ll be playing from 8–10:30 PM, bringing the Catoctin Cowboys back to one of our favorite places to play.

There’s something about playing at The Barn that just feels right for this band. It’s a great setting for a night of country music, and we’re looking forward to settling in for a full evening of songs, stories and plenty of honky-tonk.

If you’re anywhere around Harpers Ferry, Charles Town, Shepherdstown, Martinsburg, Frederick or the Eastern Panhandle, come on out and spend the evening with us.

We’ll have plenty of country favorites, original songs and the kind of music that’s meant to be heard with a cold drink and good friends nearby.

🤠 September 12: Soles of Hope Wild Wild West

The very next night, we’re trading Harpers Ferry for the Wild West.

On Saturday, September 12, we’re heading to Elmwood Farm in Williamsport for Soles of Hope: Wild Wild West, and I’m really looking forward to this one. We had a great time playing this last year.

And this isn’t just another night of live music.

It’s a night for a great cause.

Soles of Hope is a fundraiser benefiting Children In Need, Inc., an organization that provides new shoes to children in Washington County. We’re proud to be part of an event that brings people together for a good time while helping local kids.

The organizers are putting together a full Wild West-themed party, complete with BBQ, line dancing, corn hole, lasso demonstrations, raffles, drinks and live entertainment.

We’ll be providing the country music from 5–9 PM.

If you’ve got a cowboy hat, boots or a favorite Western shirt sitting in the closet, this is the night to get it out.

And there’s a great way to help the cause directly: bring a brand-new pair of children’s shoes and receive a raffle ticket for each pair you donate.

I love being part of events like this. We get to do what we love—play country music—and at the same time help support kids right here in our region.

Soles of Hope: Wild Wild West is a 21-and-over event. Advance tickets are $55, with tickets at the door priced at $75.

Come out, put on your best Western gear, dance a little, listen to some country music and help us support a great cause.

🚜 September 21: The Great Frederick Fair

Then we come home.

On Monday, September 21, we’ll be performing at The Great Frederick Fair in Frederick, Maryland, before the evening’s Truck & Tractor Pull.

We’ll hit the stage from 5–6 PM, followed by the Truck & Tractor Pull at 6 PM.

If you’ve grown up around Frederick County, you probably don’t need me to explain what the Great Frederick Fair means around here.

I’ve spent a lot of time at the Fair; it’s one of those things that just feels like home. I even wrote a song about the fair, “Every Night’s a Party at The Great Frederick Fair.”

There’s something about walking through those gates.

The smell of the food.

The lights.

The rides.

The livestock.

The tractors.

The people you haven’t seen since last year’s Fair.

And, of course, all those fair foods that somehow seem like a perfectly reasonable dinner once a year.

This year, you can add live country music from Mike Kuster & The Catoctin Cowboys to the list.

We’ll be bringing our brand of traditional country, honky-tonk and Americana to the Fair stage before the trucks and tractors take over.

And if you’ve never experienced the Truck & Tractor Pull, stick around. It’s loud, exciting and definitely something you have to experience in person.

Your Truck & Tractor Pull ticket includes admission to the Fair, so come early, spend the afternoon enjoying everything the Fair has to offer, then join us for some live country music before the engines fire up.

Three Shows. Three Stories. One Busy September.

When I look at these three shows, I think about one of the things I love most about being a musician.

Every show is different.

One night we’re in Harpers Ferry, playing a full evening at The Barn.

The next night we’re in Williamsport, putting on our cowboy hats and helping raise money to put shoes on the feet of local kids.

Then we’re back home in Frederick County, playing one of the biggest annual events in the area.

That’s a pretty good September.

And while the settings are different, what we’re doing is the same:

Playing country music and having a damn good time with good people.

So if you’re searching for live music in Frederick MD, country music in Harpers Ferry, or something fun to do in the Frederick County and Eastern Panhandle area this September, come see us.
