I had the opening line of this song stuck, and didn’t know what to do with it. As I was going through songs I had listed as possible additions to my set list, I came across Merle Haggard’s “It’s Been A Great Afternoon.” After playing through it that weekend, I thought, “Merle would love that line and make something fun out of it.” So, that’s what I tried to accomplish with this.
We had a lot of fun coming up with the sound on this one in the studio. We took inspiration from The Hag, but also those great songs of Jim Henson’s productions for The Muppets.
