This song is a whole different vibe. I was totally harnessing Merle Haggard when I wrote this one. His “It’s Been A Great Afternoon” was real inspiration for this.
Once in the studio, Dan brought up the sound of Jim Henson’s Muppet productions. So, we added the feel of those great songs in the Muppet movies of the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. So, we’re still harnessing that same time-period as when Haggard wrote and released “It’s Been A Great Afternoon”.
